sotanLIFE Overview:Large production companies dominate the movie industry, and an elite corps of “brilliant” minds dictate which movies will be coming to a theater near you.  These individuals have proven themselves to be amazing at prognosticating the amount of financial success a film will have, but the actual content of the film is of no consequence in this decision making process.  The Lagoon Cinema stands in direct opposition to this philosophical paradigm, placing the quality of the art before the quantity of money it will bring in.  The Lagoon Theater represents the ideals of the Sundance Film Festival, and takes pride in showcasing independent flicks that will never make it to your average cineplex.  In the past, the Lagoon Theater has helped bring acclaim to films such as My Big Fat Greek Wedding, March of the Penguins, and The Blair Witch Project.  These films, which were not originally picked up by the Hollywood hotshots, were so popular at independent–minded venues like the Lagoon that Hollywood was forced to reconsider their decision.  Cutting edge techniques, interesting plots, and characters with depth dominate the screen at Lagoon, which is the place to visit if you are tired of bang-bang, shoot ‘em up plots starring Colin Farrell that fall flat on their face. Variety is the spice of life, and thanks to the Lagoon, you don’t have to swallow whatever pappy crap Hollywood is spooning out.  Celebrate original expression at the Lagoon, where the only thing that feels formulaic is their consistent selection of innovative independent films.  Park in the lot behind the theater and Lagoon Cinema will validate, so you can save those extra dollars for popcorn and Sour Patch Kids.
